Thank you for coming to conferences. I tell the students all of the time that they are an amazing class. You are the reason they are so great!!

The weather is getting colder. Please remember to send winter gear with your child each day to school. Thank you!

This week:

In reading, we read nonfiction stories about Veterans Day. We focused on what the Table of Contents, Index and Glossary and how they work.

In writing, we wrote about being brave. They had to edit their story to find sight words and spell them correctly.

In math, we played the game in the cup and found the missing addend. I also introduced fractions. They made an American flag using paper chains. They had to find what fraction of their chain each color was.

Next week:
Our sight words next week: about, other, out, up, will
Please write and say these words every day.

We will be learning about the first Thanksgiving and comparing thing from the past to the present. We will make connections to our stories during our read aloud.
We will review goods and services and plan a pretend Thanksgiving meal.
In math, we will focus on true and false statements. An example is   8+4= 5+2   and then the students will decide if that is true or false.
