The Collection Contest is still going on till the end of March!
This week:
We read read fiction books about Easter and nonfiction books about eggs. They found details in each one of the books. In math, we learned about words in story problems to help us decide if we should add or subtract. We wrote a story with a beginning, middle and end and filled it with details.
In music, they used eggs to find out what made the sound?
They also did science experiments with peeps. We saw what happens when you put them in water, int the microwave and in the freezer. They had to work together to save the peep from going into the water.
Next week:
We will be reviewing all sight words.
We will be learning about rocks. We will read stories and review authors purpose. We will write about rocks and classify them. In math, we will focus on patterns and skip counting.

This week:
We had a great 2 days reading leprechaun stories and discussing author's purpose. We practiced time and story problems in math. They also designed a leprechaun trap.

We will be using Easter activities to practice syllables, finding details in stories and doing science experiments with peeps. In math, we will continue to decide if we should add or subtract when reading story problem.

We got 3rd place in Dr. Seuss bingo and we get to have cookies and a PJ party on Mar. 24th. I will send a note home soon with more details.

This week:
We read stories and found out the authors purpose. We classified our toys by color, shape, and size. We weighed and measured them. They used adjectives in their stories to describe their toys. In math, we discussed how addition and subtraction are related and can help us solve equations.
Next week:
We will not have sight words this week.
We will be doing some St. Patrick day activities. We will learn about syllables and prefixes and suffixes. We will test our addition and subtraction skills.

April 14th is Jefferson's Talent Show at the Extension Building.
This week:
We had a busy week learning about Dr. Seuss and celebrating 120 days of school. We read several different Dr. Seuss stories and discussed author's purpose. In math, we played the game in the cup and reviewed how to find the missing addend. On the 120th day, we did activities for 120 seconds and wrote to 120. Each table got to eat 120 things. We met with our buddies and made a poster, wrote a skit, or did a dance to show what some of Dr. Seuss's quotes really mean.

We will be using the toys they bring in to review measurement, graphing, and introduce weight. We will also write adjectives describing them and classify them. We will focus on finding details in the stories we read.
